Commitment to excellence
Quality, innovation and sustainability are our main drivers. We go above and beyond to ensure a traceable supply of best in class seafood. We guarantee a fresh high-quality fish anywhere in the Americas and worldwide.
All of our wild fish is line-caught with circular hooks and sourced from artisanal fishing vessels from the coasts of Costa Rica and Panamá. We select our fish one by one to offer only best in class and guarantee that every single fish we sell has reached maturity age.
We supply both fresh and frozen fish to local and foreign markets. We can offer the specifications our customers require: H&G, fillets, loins, stakes, CO treated or not.
Our in-house fine-tuned grading sets us apart from the rest. Tuna experts grade every single tuna for texture, color, freshness before offering it to our customers. Our Yellowfin tuna is line-caught in and sold on a year-round basis.
Through local offshore fishermen we can offer a year-round supply of swordfish in a variety of sizes and grades. Swordfish is caught in deep waters and has become an important species for long liners. Our line-caught premium quality swordfish is available whole H&G, loins, or as steaks and shipped to the US fresh or frozen.
Mahi-mahi widely known as dorado peaks from October to January when water temperatures drop near the shore of Costa Rica and Panamá. During Mahi season, small near shore artisanal boats focus on Mahi and catch fish one by one by hand line. All of our Mahi is sampled by our quality control team to make sure it meets best quality and freshness standards.
Rockfish such as Grouper and Snapper are core to our business. Martec has created long-standing relationships with artisanal fishing communities, which led the creation of Costa Rica’s first Sustainable Fishery.
We source premium quality Grouper on a year round basis from local artisan fishing vessels. Caught in areas near rocks using hand line or bottom long line, found in waters from 98 ft to 395 ft of depth.
From egg to plate
We are known as the master farmers of the delicious tropical Rose Snapper (Lutjanus guttatus). Our aquaculture division is vertically integrated all the way from the hatchery to the processing facility and has 4 star BAP certification.
Our Rose Snapper are raised 3 miles offshore in the pristine tropical waters of Costa Rica. Our fish are harvested and shipped fresh to local and international markets.
Unlike many other aquaculture operations our farmed Rose Snapper is fed with a balanced diet which is produced by world-class companies assuring the best quality Fish.
Our Fish In / Fish Out ratio is close to 0, since the fishmeal base of our feed comes mainly from by-products from the tuna canning industry.
Martec is a pioneer in offshore tropical mariculture in Central America and to date is the only company in the world producing Rose Snapper commercially.

All of our fish are line-caught with circular hooks.
All of the fish we sell have reached maturity
Pelagic fish sourced from Costa Rica come from fisheries that are managed by Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs).

Our ice is made using renewable energy.
